Emergence - Ashtanga Yoga Spring workshop, Sunday March 16th
Morning 8.15 - 10.15 am
The morning will start with a hybrid led / Mysore style class which will make the class accessible to all levels from beginners to advanced students.
Donna will lead the first part of the class, the sun salutations and standing postures - setting the rhythm for the practice and ensuring that all students can be included. We will then move into the self practice part of the class. Beginners will be guided through the first few postures and the end of the sequence - their first introduction to the self practice method. . Experienced students will carry on with their own practice with guidance and gentle hands on adjustments.
Donna teaches in an open minded, light hearted way. Her style is alignment based whilst still acknowledging the classic Ashtanga method. She is very happy for students to use props as need be and cheat sheets.
Afternoon Workshop - 12 - 3 pm
As we head towards the spring equinox and longer, lighter days we generally find that we have more energy, motivation and inspiration for life. This is the perfect time to start bringing some more energy, some spring, into our practice as well as other areas of our lives. Learning new techniques and giving yourself challenges to work towards in the summer months. This is way easier to do now rather than in January when we are still in the depths of winter and our bodies not really wanting to come out of hibernation.
This session will focus on opening the front and sides of the body as well as the shoulders, unfolding after the winter, in preparation for deeper back bends. We will begin with some breath work, breathing properly is key, and preparatory asanas before learning some fun new asanas or deepening our knowledge of the ones we already know. There will be something to challenge everyone whatever your level, all taught in a fun accessible way.
And yoga is all about balance so we will finish with a deeply restorative yoga nidra session. Ending this with q & a over a cup of tea and some cake!
